Author of CryptoCurrency Security Standard Auditor exam will further enhance Casa’s multi-signature Bitcoin security

Casa today announces the appointment of crypto security veteran Ron Stoner as its new Head of Security.

Ron is one of the most respected hackers, educators and security professionals in the crypto space, with a wealth of experience in architecting and developing secure systems for blockchain-based projects and businesses including ShapeShift and Trucoin.

He is a well-known participant in hackathons including as a member of IndigoTheory, the hacker collective dedicated to improving empathy in technology. Ron is a regular speaker at crypto security conferences and has developed educational tools and content that have become industry standards, including authoring the CryptoCurrency Security Standard Auditor (CCSSA) exam.

As Head of Security, Ron will be responsible for ensuring Casa infrastructure, products and customer services meet strict security standards, conducting internal penetration testing, and providing best practice security education to help customers keep their secure funds fully secure. Ron will work closely with Casa’s design and development teams to ensure that the company continues to build with security and usability at its foundation.

“The last few months have been exhilarating for anyone who follows Bitcoin, but there is still much more work to be done,” said Ron. “Major institutions and hedge funds are investing in Bitcoin, but at the same time we continue to see multiple, major and avoidable security incidents and hacks. Security is a constant arms race, and as an industry there are still many security and UX issues that should have been fixed years ago.

“That’s what excited me about joining Casa. I have always been impressed with Casa’s approach of providing security through simplicity and an intuitive user experience. Casa is in a unique position to be the guiding star for the whole Bitcoin ecosystem, including for the most important stakeholders: the customers themselves,” he continued.

Nick Neuman, co-founder and CEO of Casa, said, “Ron brings unparalleled security knowledge and wide-ranging experience in everything from secure server infrastructure, to operational and physical security, to "red teaming" our products to ensure that they are constantly hardened against external attack. As a highly respected speaker and educator within the cybersecurity community, Ron will play a crucial role in driving Bitcoin adoption while educating everyone, no matter how experienced, on the best practices for keeping their coins safe.”
